Rudratej Singh quits Royal Enfield with immediate effect
Royal Enfield's global president Rudratej Singh has resigned from his position. This has been confirmed by the Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer. RE mentions, "Rudratej Singh (Rudy) has decided to pursue opportunities outside of Royal Enfield owing to personal commitments. With this decision, Rudy will cease to be the official media spokesperson for Royal Enfield with immediate effect." In the interim period, Lalit Malik, CFO, Eicher Motors will be taking on the additional responsibility.
Rudratej Singh had joined Royal Enfield in 2015 and has been responsible for handling branding, aftersales and also development of marketing strategies for new products in domestic as well as international markets. He was involved in the launch of Royal Enfield's Classic series of motorcycles that have given a new perception to the brand which was followed by various iterations of the Classic 350 and Classic 500, including the Redditch, Signal and Pegasus editions. More importantly, Singh was involved in the development and launch of the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the brand's first ever adventure touring motorcycle, which was launched in 2016. Rudy was also at the helm for the Thunderbird 350 X and 500 X launch last year, though the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are the brand's most important products to have been launched during his tenure.
Royal Enfield posted sales of 58,278 motorcycles in the month of December 2018, against the sales of 66,968 over the same period last year.
