Second generation Hyundai Creta SUV spotted on test - India launch expected in Q1 of 2020
Hyundai Creta SUV has been spotted on test in its new generation avatar. The SUV is expected to look similar to the Hyundai iX25 that was unveiled at the 2019 Auto Shanghai Motorshow.
The styling on the SUV is inspired by Hyundai's current family design that is prominent on the Hyundai Venue and the flagship SUV, Palisade that is sold internationally. The DRLs are positioned above the headlamps and the SUV gets a new bash plate with an aluminium finish. The wheel arches are more squared and the alloys sport a new design. Expect a two-tone colour scheme on offer similar to the current SUV on sale.
The newer engines on offer are expected to be the same ones that are offered in the upcoming Kia Seltos. 1.4-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel could be on offer in the new Creta as the engines are already BSVI emission compliant. The choice of gearboxes will be a six-speed manual and optional DCT, CVT or torque converter automatic transmission. The new Creta is expected to be based on an all-new platform that could be lighter though the dimension of the new SUV could be more than the current Creta on sale.
Expect the second-generation Hyundai Creta to be launched in the early months of 2020 and the SUV could be showcased at Hyundai's stall in the 2020 Auto Expo.
The new Creta could be dearer to its customers by almost a lakh rupee and the price could range between Rs 11-16 lakh ex-showroom. The rivals to the new Creta will be the upcoming Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio SUV.
