Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), which oversees the Indian operations of five Volkswagen Group brands âÂ" Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini âÂ" has reached a significant milestone in its India journey, having produced 1.5 million units to date at its manufacturing facilities in Chakan, Pune and Shendra, Aurangabad.
SAVWIPL has been steadily increasing its market share in India. Despite the hurdles caused by the epidemic and chip shortages across the sector, growth continues.
Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun, Volkswagen Virtus, Volkswagen PoloÃÂ and Volkswagen Vento are now produced at the SAVWIPL factory in Pune. Skoda, Volkswagen, and Audi all have factories in Aurangabad that produce theirÃÂ premium and luxury vehicles.
In June 2021, Skoda Auto's milestone car, the Skoda Kushaq, announced the start of a new era in India. The SUV is the India 2.0 project's first production vehicle, as well as the first Skoda designed and built in India.
With the start of exports of the Made in India Volkswagen T-Cross in February 2022, the firm reached another major milestone in its India 2.0 journey. Until December 2021, the Group has shipped approximately 545,700 vehicles.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director, SAVWIPL said, "Today we have 1.5 million reasons to be proud of our employees' performance. Without them, the great result of SAVWIPL would be unimaginable. The production milestone is a significant achievement and a testament to the success of our products in the domestic as well as export market. It also highlights the seamless collaboration between our global and Indian teams, who have been instrumental in putting the engineering and manufacturing expertise of India on the global map. We are proud that cars engineered at our state of the art manufacturing facilities in India are also driven by the world."
