Skoda India to hike prices by upto 2.5 per cent from January 1, 2021
Skoda India has announced that it will be hiking the prices of all its offerings in the country from January 1, 2021. Justifying the increase in prices, Skoda India spokesperson commented, "There has been a surge in the cost of our inputs for production due to significant volatility in the global commodity prices and foreign exchange rates in recent times. Skoda Auto India has been absorbing these incremental costs, all this while, but is now considering a price increase of up to 2.5 per cent with effect from 01 January 2021 across its model range."
In other news, Skoda India is readying its Vision IN SUV based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which will make its global debut in March 2021 and should arrive in production guise sometime in May 2021. The Czech automobile manufacturer will also launch a replacement of the Rapid sedan to take on the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Viaz. Upcoming models also include petrol-engined Kodiaq and the fourth generation Skoda Octavia.
Last month, Skoda unveiled one of its largest workshop facility in India, in association with Dr. Auto Technologies, at Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The new state of the art service outlet sports the new Corporate Identity and Design as a part of Skoda Auto's global redesigning process. The Czech auto manufacturer, under the purview of the 'INDIA 2.0' project, will have at least twice as many sales and service touchpoints, as it does today, by 2022.
