Skoda Kylaq to be revealed on November 6
Skoda Auto India has confirmed that it will officially mark its entrance into the sub-4 metre SUV segment with the Kylaq on November 6. The brand claims that the name 'Kylaq' comes from a Sanskrit term meaning crystal.
As a part of Skoda's new strategy, the upcoming Kylaq will use the existing MQB-A0-IN platform with some changes. The Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun, along with the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq share the same architecture. What it will also borrow from these cars is the 1.0-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 115PS and 178Nm of torque. This motor is coupled to a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. However, it is unlikely Skoda to offer the 1.5-litre TSI Evo unit with the Kylaq.
Skoda Kylaq: FeaturesExpect the Kylaq to boast a host of features, including at least a few standard features, such as six airbags, electronic stability programme, three-point seat belts and reminders, ABS with EBD, and hill start assist, among others. Comfort and convenience features may include a fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, telematics, single-pane sunroof, USB Type-C charging ports, air purifier, powered driver's seat, cooled glove box, TPMS, connected car tech, driving modes, auto headlamps and wipers, a wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery, and more.
Skoda Kylaq: Bookings & Rivals
Bookings for the new Skoda Kylaq are expected to commence immediately after the launch and deliveries should begin by December. Meanwhile, the prices of the Kylaq SUV may range between Rs 8-9 lakh to Rs 13-14 lakh. It will face competition from the likes of the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and so on.
