Skoda Octavia vRS to be sold at £22,990 in the UK
The all-new 2013 Skoda Octavia vRS finally made its world premier, this past weekend, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Czech automaker has launched the Octavia vRS in the UK at some very competitive prices.
The vRS has an option of both high-performance petrol and diesel engines. A 2.0-litre TSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel delivering 217Ps and 181Ps respectively are at the core of the vRS. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission, which is available in both manual and DSG auto. The automatic transmission is optional.
For the petrol powered model, the top speed is claimed to be in the 250kmph range. This makes it the fastest Octavia ever. The 0-100 dash is completed in 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 248kmph.
The sporty suspension lowers the car by 12mm compared to the standard Octavia. The vRS comes with an XDS electronic differential which improves traction and avoids understeering into corners. Large alloy wheels and an aggressive body kit help it stand out from the standard Octavia.
When it comes to practicality, the vRS has more leg, head room and a huge 590-litre boot. Bi-xenon headlights, DAB, Bluetooth, LED running lights, infotainment system, dual-zone air conditioning and roof fails are other added goodies.
When it goes on sale, in the UK, on August 1, the entry-level variant will cost £22,990. The top-end variant will carry a price tag of £25,450.
