Skoda-Volkswagen India appoints Piyush Arora as MD
Following the departure of Gurpratap Boparai, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has now appointed Piyush Arora as its new managing director. Arora will take up this post from March 1, 2022. He will be responsible for expanding the Volkswagen Group's business in India, including the second phase of the India 2.0 project being undertaken by Skoda and Volkswagen in India. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India is the new business entity that was formed as part of this expansion project, it is led by Skoda Auto and oversees all of the Volkwagen Group brands in India including Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, Audi, Lamborghini and Porsche.
Piyush Arora has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. A graduate of IIT Kanpur, he also holds a diploma in international business from Symbiosis International University. He most recent role prior to this was at Mercedes-Benz India, where he was the luxury brand's head of operations. He has also held supervisory board positions at Mercedes-Benz Indonesia and Mercedes-Benz Vietnam. A mechanical engineer, he began his career at Tata Motors.
