Hyundai has been trending on the internet for the new-gen Santro and also the addition of automatic variants in the Elite i20 hatchback. However, the one has been gaining a lot of attention is the facelifted Creta SUV. Hyundai has updated the design and has also updated the cabin. The mechanicals of the 2018 Creta, however, remain unchanged. The other offerings that you can get for a similar price includes the Honda BR-V crossover, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio and the Renault Captur SUVs. Where does the facelifted Hyundai Creta stand against its rivals in India, we take a look in our spec comparison report.
Design
The new Creta gets a larger chrome trimmed hexagonal front grille. The front bumper now has new fog lamp housings and a pronounced chin which merges into the front grille. The rear bumpers have also been redesigned while the taillamps have also received a subtle tweak. The Renault Captur and the Mahindra Scorpio have more convincing SUV looks than the others in this comparison. The Honda BR-V on the other hand looks more like a combination between a crossover and a station wagon.
Cabin and Features
The Mahindra Scorpio is the longer, wider and taller when compared to the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the Honda BR-V. This means the cabin space in terms of the headroom, legroom and the shoulder room of the Scorpio will be better than the other rivals. The Hyundai Creta, however, takes the lead when it comes to features. In addition to the newly added sunroof, the Hyundai Creta also comes equipped with CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options.
Engine and drivetrain
The facelifted Creta's powertrain options remain unchanged with the 1.4 diesel (90PS, 220 Nm), 1.6 diesel (128PS, 260Nm) and 1.6 petrol (123PS, 151Nm) being carried over. These will be mated to the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The Mahindra Scorpio again has a lead over its rivals when it comes to power output of 140PS and also has the highest torque rating of 320Nm. Additionally, only the Mahindra Scorpio comes with a 4WD drivetrain unlike others that are offered in 2WD drivetrains.
