Royal Enfield launched the new Guerrilla 450 in India today with prices starting at Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in three variants and five colour options. Based on the Sherpa 450cc platform, which made its debut with the Himalayan 450, this roadster has entered the ever-growing sub-500cc segment. The new Guerrilla 450 takes on the likes of the Triumph Speed 400, Triumph Scrambler 400X, Honda CB 350RS, Bajaj Dominar 400, Hero Mavrick 440, and its elder sibling, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Let us find out how does the new RE roadster stack up against its rivals.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and Himalayan 450 both come powered by the same 452cc engine, producing 40.02PS and 40Nm of torque. Whereas, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X get a slightly smaller capacity (398.15cc) engine but deliver the same power output and marginally lower torque.

Further, the Mavrick 440 is powered by a 440cc, air/oil-cooled, SOHC engine delivers 27.27PS and 36Nm of torque. Then, the Dominar 400 gets a 373.3cc unit that makes 40PS and 35Nm of torque. Lastly, the CB 350RS features a 348.36cc, air/oil-cooled, SOHC motor that produces 21PS and 30Nm.
With its smaller capacity engine, the Dominar 400 develops the same power as the Guerrilla 450 but 5Nm fewer torque output. The Mavrick 440 and CB350 RS generate significantly lower power output than the Guerrilla and they both also come with an air/oil-cooled SOHC engines unlike the liquid-cooled units of its rivals, especially the Guerrilla 450. All motorcycles, except the CB 350RS, come with a six-speed gearbox. The CB 350RS is paired with a five-speed unit.

When it comes to suspension, the Guerrilla 450, Mavrick 440, Dominar 400, and CB 350RS feature telescopic front forks, while Himalayan 450, Speed 400, and Scrambler 400X have upside down front forks. Similarly, all models, excluding the Mavrick 440 and CB350 RS, come fitted with a rear monoshock. But the Hero and have twin shocks at the rear. Moreover, the braking systems vary slightly among these models. The front disc size ranges between 300mm and 320mm, while the rear disc setup between 230mm and 270mm.

The Guerrilla 450 has a kerb weight of 185kg and a dry weight of 174kg, whereas the Himalayan 450 weighs 196kg (kerb) and 181kg (dry). As a result, the latter is the heaviest motorcycle in the list. The Speed 400 is lightest at 176kg, while the Scrambler 400X weighs the same as the kerb weight of the Guerrilla 450. Then, the Mavrick 440 ranges between 187kg (alloy wheels) and 191kg (spoke wheels), while and the CB 350RS comes in at 179kg. In the sub-500cc roadster segment, the Dominar 400 emerges as the heaviest at 193kg.
The Himalayan 450 has the largest fuel tank at 17 litres, followed by the CB 350RS with a 15-litre and Mavrick 440 with a 13.5-litre tank. In contrast, the Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, and Dominar 400 all have a 13-litre fuel tank. However, the Royal Enfield has given the Guerrilla 450 an 11-litre tank - the lowest fuel tank capacity among its rivals.
The seat height could be a deal-breaker for some buyers. The Himalayan 450, being an adventure motorcycle, offers a height of 825mm, adjustable to 845mm or 805mm with an optional accessory seat. In comparison, the Scrambler 400X has the highest fixed seat height at 835mm. The Speed 400 has a 790mm seat height, the Mavrick 440 has 803mm, and the Guerrilla 450 has 780mm, which is the lowest on the list. The Dominar 400 and CB 350RS share the same 800mm seat height.
Meanwhile, the Himalayan 450 and CB 350RS come with 21-inch front and 19-inch front wheels, respectively. The rest of the motorcycles get a 17-inch rear wheel instead.

The Guerrilla 450 is available at a range of prices: Rs 2.39 lakh, Rs 2.49 lakh, and Rs 2.54 lakh, while RE offers Himalayan 450 at Rs 2.85 lakh, Rs 2.89 lakh, Rs 2.93 lakh, and Rs 2.98 lakh. Then, the Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2.24 lakh, while the Scrambler 400X is available for Rs 2.54 lakh. The recently launched Mavrick 440, which is based on the Harley-Davidson X440, price ranges from Rs 1.99 lakh to Rs 2.24 lakh. The Dominar 400 costs Rs 2.31 lakh, while the CB 350RS comes at different prices starting from Rs 2.15 lakh and going up to Rs 2.19 lakh.

The Royal Enfield models provide a balance of power and torque, while the Triumph motorcycles are lighter with a power output on par with the Royal Enfield 450cc twins. On the flip side, the Mavrick 440, CB 350RS and Dominar 400 are cheaper alternatives with distinctive power outputs.
