Spec comparison: Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) vs Kia Carens X-Line turbo petrol
Toyota recently introduced a new variant for its Innova Hycross, called the GX (O). The new variant sits atop the GX variant and comes with additional features, which were previously exclusive to the hybrid variants. Notably, the new GX (O) variant is offered in both seven- and eight-seater layouts. Here we compare this range-topping petrol-only new variant of the Innova Hycross with the Kia Carens turbo petrol variants.
The newly launched Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) eight-seat variant has been priced at Rs 20.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the seven-seat version costs Rs 21.13 lakh (ex-showroom). Overall, the prices of the Innova Hycross range between Rs 19.77 lakh and Rs 30.98 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the top-spec Kia Carens X-Line turbo petrol seven-seat variant comes with a price tag of Rs 19.22 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Carens has been priced between Rs 10.52 lakh and 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) vs Kia Carens turbo petrol: Features
The new GX (O) variant of the Innova Hycross comes with more features compared to the GX variant. Toyota has given it a 360deg camera, front LED fog lights, wireless Apple CarPlay, front parking sensors, automatic temperature, and rear defogger. The seven-seat GX (O) version gets additional features, such as a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and rear sunshades.
Further, the interior has a chestnut colour scheme, while the dashboard of the GX (O) variant gets soft-touch material and fabric seat covers. It also comes equipped with LED headlamps, ESC, six airbags, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the flip side, the recently updated Kia Carens X-Line turbo petrol variant benefits from a dashcam with dual camera and all windows auto up and down function with voice commands. Apart from that, the Carens X-Line is outfitted with a 10.1-inch rear-seat screen, an electric sunroof, LED headlamps and fog lamps, 64 colours ambient lighting, leatherette seat covers, ESC, hill-start assist, vehicle stability management, downhill brake control, TPMS, four-wheel disc brake, 10.25-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, front ventilated seats and more.
Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) vs Kia Carens turbo petrol: Powertrain
The petrol-only Innova Hycross GX (O) gets a 2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 174PS and 205Nm of torque. This motor is paired with a CVT automatic gearbox. Whereas, the Carens X-Line comes powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This engine makes 160PS and 253Nm of torque.
