The Hyundai i20 comes in as the longest and widest car among the 4 hatchbacks. The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno is 5mm shorter in length than the outgoing model and hence is now on par with the Tata Altroz. The new Baleno has also lost 10mm in height making it the shortest car here with the Honda Jazz being the tallest. The Honda Jazz also has the biggest boot with 354 litres, followed by the Tata Altroz with 340 litres and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20 with 318 litres and 311 litres respectively.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno includes a redesigned grille, LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED fog lights, UV-cut glass, LED tail lights, and new front and rear bumpers on the outside. The Hyundai i20 has LED projector headlights and fog lights, the characteristic cascading grille design, triangular-shaped fog light surrounds, a sunroof, Z-shaped LED tail lights, shark-fin antenna, and puddle lamps in terms of external appearance.
The Tata Altroz has twin headlights at the front with an integrated DRL and fog lighting unit below them. A high-gloss black grille with chrome elements is standard on the Honda Jazz. The hatchback comes with LED headlights with DRLs and LED fog lamps, depending on the model. A unique LED wing light is added to the back part. The Honda Jazz is the only one here with 15-inch wheel size, while all the others get 16-inch.

Transmission options include a five-speed manual unit and an AMT unit. The Hyundai i20 is available with three engine choices. A 1-litre turbo petrol producing 120PS and 172 Nm of torque comes with a six-speed iMT and a seven-speed DCT transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 100PS and 240 Nm of torque and is mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The 1.2-litre NA petrol engine provides 83PSp and 115Nm of torque, with a five-speed manual and an IVT gearbox as options.
The Tata Altroz is the only car here not available with an automatic gearbox. It comes with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol producing 110PS at and 140 Nm. The other engines on offer are the 1.5-litre Revotorq turbo-diesel 4-cylinder that makes 90PS and 200Nm. The base petrol motor is the 1.2-litre Revotron 3-cylinder petrol with 86PS and 113Nm. Under the hood of the Honda Jazz is a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that produces 90PS and 110Nm of torque. This engine can be had with either a five-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed CVT option with paddle shifters.

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno has a nine-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen entertainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, OTA updates, an Arkamys-sourced audio system, cruise control, rear AC vents, height-adjustable driver's seat, automatic temperature control, a 360-degree camera and six airbags on the inside. It also comes connected with the Suzuki app.
The Hyundai i20 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BlueLink connection, a completely digital instrument panel, blue ambient lighting, a Bose-sourced seven-speaker sound system, and wireless charging with cooling function. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, high-speed warning system, VSM, ESC, HAC, rear parking camera and TPMS are among the model's safety features.
The Tata Altroz has a dual-theme colour scheme on the inside. The instrument cluster comprises a floating seven-inch touchscreen and another seven-inch screen with an analogue dial. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the ConnectNext app suite are all supported by the infotainment system. There's also a 15-litre chilled glove box. Many amenities are included in the car, including cruise control, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, reverse camera, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers and navigation in three words.
A new soft touchpad dashboard, cruise control, auto air conditioning with touchscreen control panel, multi-information combimeter with LCD display and Eco Assist ambient rings are all available on the Honda Jazz. A 7-inch touchscreen music, video and navigation system is standard. The Jazz also has audio, phone and voice control positioned on the steering wheel, a single push start/stop button with white and red lights and a Honda Smart Key system with keyless remote.

The Tata Altroz is the cheapest hatch here with a starting price of just Rs 5.99 lakh. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno starts at Rs 6.35 lakh and the Hyundai i20 starts from Rs 6.98 lakh.
