Spec comparo: MG Comet EV vs Tata Tiago EV
Small electric hatchbacks have been getting popular lately and while the Tata Tiago EV has been the cheapest electric car, there's some new competition now in the form of the MG Comet EV. The Comet is just available in a single variant at a price as low as Rs 7.98 lakh while the Tiago EV is available with 2 different battery packs and a variety of variants ranging from Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh. Let's take a look at the further differences between the 2 cars.
MG Comet EV vs Tata Tiago EV: Dimensions
The Tata Tiago EV measures 3,769mm in length, 1,677mm in width, 1,536mm tall and has a 2,400mm wheelbase. Meanwhile, the MG Comet measures 2,974mm in length, 1,505mm in width, 1,631mm tall and has a 2,010mm wheelbase making it the smaller of the 2.
MG Comet EV vs Tata Tiago EV: Battery and PowertrainThe Tata Tiago EV gets two battery and range options. The Tiago EV uses the firm's Ziptron high-voltage electric architecture in a larger 24 kWh capacity to return an MIDC-certified range of 314 km. A smaller 19.2 kWh liquid-cooled battery returns 250 km of range. The battery pack is weather and impact resistant and carries an 8-year and 1.6 lakh km warranty. The larger pack returns 75PS and 114 Nm, the smaller one makes 61PS and 104 Nm.
Powering the MG Comet is a 17.3kWh battery pack that provides an ARAI-certified driving range of 230km. The power output of an electric motor paired with the battery pack is rated at 42PS and 110Nm of torque.
MG Comet EV vs Tata Tiago EV: Interior and FeaturesThe Tiago EV has a height-adjustable driver seat, automatic temperature control, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, as well as flat-bottom steering wheels with mounted controls. It includes a rearview camera with parking sensors, electric auto fold ORVMs, powered boot opening, multi-drive modes, cruise control, a cooled glovebox, 45 ZConnect features with smartwatch compatibility, four speakers, four tweeters, leatherette seat upholstery, TPMS, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers. It also has dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
Step inside, and the Comet has a relatively welcoming cabin with a dual 10.25-inch screen setup taking centre stage. The two-spoke steering wheel is a neat touch and it also features some controls inspired by the Apple iPod to make your journey a little easier. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, over 55 connected car features, push pedal start, a digital key, power windows, a grey interior theme and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Safety features include twin front airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera, electronic stability control (ESC), a seat-belt reminder system, a speed alert system and TPMS
