Spied: Mahindra’s upcoming 110cc scooter testing in India
It was speculated that Mahindra and Mahindra will showcase their all new scooter at the Expo. But the Indian manufacturer didn't. We now however have spy shots of this upcoming scooter. OVERDRIVE reader Rohan Takalkar sent in these images of the Mahindra scooter that he spotted testing near Lonavala.
The new Mahindra 110cc scooter will have a unisex design similar to the ones that the Activa and Jupiter sport. There are vertical clear lens turn indicators  on the front apron while the headlamp is also a clear lens unit. The front apron also has air intakes inspired from the erstwhile Blaze scooter. Mahindra's latest scooter will get telescopic front forks and also familiar MRF Nylogrip tyres. The scooter also has completely new meters. They are semi circular in design with the top right hand slot being digital. The seat is a broad unit and the floorboard is also flat.
We expect Mahindra will be using the Centuro/Pantero's 110cc engine in this new scooter. It should make around 8PS of power considering that the same engine produces 8.5Ps in the Centuro. It will come mated to a variomatic transmission and should claim a fuel efficiency of over 60kmpl.
Mahindra currently has four scooters on sale in India- Rodeo, Duro, Flyte and Kine. Except for the Kine, all other scooters are 125cc. With the launch of this new scooter, Mahindra will be entering the highly lucrative and competitive 110cc space. This new scooter will be in the market by August this year and will compete against the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter.
