Suzuki V-Strom 800DE makes India debut at 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo
The Japanese two-wheeler giant, Suzuki, unveiled the much-anticipated V-Strom 800DE at the Bharat Mobility Expo in New Delhi today. This adventure motorcycle, already spotted during testing in the country, is the successor to the V-Strom 650XT and is expected to hit the market in the coming months. Notably, Suzuki had revealed the new V-Strom 800DE alongside the GSX-8S at the 2022 EICMA in Milan back in November 2022.
The V-Strom 800DE features a fresh design compared to its predecessor. Sporting a new steel frame and sub-frame with an aluminum swingarm, the adventure motorcycle features vertically stacked twin-LED projector headlamps, angular side panels with sharp cuts and creases, a high-set beak, sculpted fuel tank, an adjustable windscreen, a single-piece scooped-out seat, an upswept exhaust, a robust-looking top-box mount, belly pan, and wire-spoked wheels. Overall, the new 800DE showcases a sportier appearance than its predecessor. Globally, Suzuki offers two paint options for the ADV: Glass Matte Mechanical Grey and Champion Yellow No. 2.
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Engine and Power OutputsEquipped with a new 776cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine, the V-Strom 800DE introduces the Suzuki Cross Balancer âÂ" a patented system promising reduced vibrations and smooth operations. The engine generates 84.3PS at 8,500rpm and 78Nm of torque at 6,800rpm, coupled with a six-speed gearbox.

Loaded with features, the bike comes with a switchable five-inch TFT colour display, dual-channel ABS, Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), riding modes, Gravel mode, ride-by-wire, traction control, bi-directional quickshifter, low rpm assist, and a USB port. In terms of hardware, Suzuki has equipped it with adjustable Showa front upside-down forks, a rear monoshock, dual 310mm disc brakes at the front with 2-piston Nissin callipers, a single disc at the back with a one-piston Nissin calliper, a 90/90 21-section front tyre, and a 150/70 R17-section rear unit. The bike boasts a 20-litre fuel tank, a seat height of 855mm, a ground clearance of 220mm, and a curb weight of 230kg.
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Price and RivalsExpected to be priced around Rs 11 to Rs 12 lakh, the V-Strom 800DE will take on with the Triumph Tiger 900, Honda XL750 Transalp, and the upcoming 2024 BMW F 900 GS. For reference, the outgoing V-Strom 650XT is priced at Rs 8.93 lakh (ex-showroom).
