Tata Curvv & Curvv EV launch set for August 7, 2024

The Tata Curvv and Curvv EV seem to have completed all their tests and checks as Tata Motors will launch the Coupe SUV on August 7, 2024. What's surprising is that Tata is expected to reveal both the ICE and EV versions of the car on the same day. The Curvv concept was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo and a production-ready concept was showcased earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

Tata Curvv & Curvv EV: Design

The pre-production concept model's prior photos show that its design will be in line with the most recent SUVs from Tata. It will have dual-projector LED headlights inside triangle clusters at the bottom and a sleek LED strip on top up front. The Curvv EV is also anticipated to include a linked LED DRL with welcome and farewell features, as well as a closed grille. Its powerful wheel arches are visible from the side, but the most striking feature is the steeply dipping roofline. Furthermore, the Curvv will be smaller than the Harrier but larger than the Nexon.

Tata Curvv & Curvv EV: Powertrain

Something the Curvv will borrow from the Nexon is its powertrains. The Curvv is expected to be offered with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 125PS and 225Nm and 115PS and 260Nm, respectively. The available transmissions will probably include a 6-speed DCT, a 6-speed AMT, and a 6-speed manual.

The Curvv EV on the other hand might not get the same powertrain as the Nexon EV. It will be built on the Gen 2 EV architecture and is expected to have a claimed range of 500 kilometres. There will be 2 powertrains, one of which is expected to have an all-wheel drive setup.

Tata Curvv & Curvv EV: Interior & Features

The interior decor looks to be different than on the Nexon, while the arrangement is similar, with the free-floating touchscreen situated over the sleek central AC vents. The Curvv has the same rotary knob as the Nexon for controlling the various driving modes, as well as the same gear lever in front of it. The bulky four-spoke steering, however, differs from the Nexon and is more akin to what we've seen on larger Tata SUVs such as the Harrier and Safari.

It will come loaded with features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, ventilated front seats, keyless entry with push button start/stop, wireless phone charging, a large panoramic sunroof, and an automatic climate control unit. Its safety features are believed to include six airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC) and even level 2 ADAS.

Tata Curvv & Curvv EV: Pricing

As for pricing, expect the Curvv to start from somewhere around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and a range-topping variant set to be priced at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The Curvv EV should be priced at Rs 16 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
