The long-awaited Tata Curvv EV is finally here and prices for the car start from Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Curvv EV, like other Tata electric cars available with 2 different battery capacities, will be available across three broad trims - Creative, Accomplished and Empowered.

Tata Curvv EV: Design

The production-ready Curvv EV looks very much like the concept model we've seen before. A full-width LED DRL is included, and it displays the charging status as well. The LED headlights are housed in a triangle casing. The rear of the car also has a full-width taillight and works in conjunction with the front lightbar for a welcome and goodbye animation.

The Curvv's distinctive design is evident in its sloping roofline, which is the standout feature in the profile. The cladding is gloss black and adds a little roughness to the wheel and the 18-inch wheels are aerodynamically designed to maximise efficiency. The door handles of the car also sit flush with the body which is a first for Tata.

In addition, Tata has unveiled its official accessory range, Tata.ev Originals, allowing customers to customize the Curvv EV's exterior and interior. Flame Red, Pristine White, Empowered Oxide, Virtual Sunrise, and Pure Grey are the five colour options available for the Tata Curvv EV.

Tata Curvv EV: Interior & Features

Step inside the Curvv EV and the design is extremely minimalistic and very much in line with Tata's new generation of SUVs. Tata has also made adjustments to give the interior of the Curvv EV a distinct personality. To begin with, the dash has silver inlays and is completed in a black-and-white colour scheme. The Harrier and Safari have been stripped of their four-spoke steering wheel.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a 320W 9-speaker JBL sound system, start-stop button, an electrically adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, an electronic parking brake, a panoramic sunroof, and a motorized tailgate are among the additional amenities. Six airbags (as standard equipment), ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, an automated parking brake with hold, and, most crucially, Level-2 ADAS are all part of the safety kit.

Tata Curvv EV: Powertrain

Like all Tata EVs, the Curvv EV also comes with 2 battery options. The 45kWh battery pack has a 502 km (ARAI) range. Conversely, the Curvv EV models come with a bigger 55kWh battery pack with a range of 585 kilometres (ARAI). According to Tata, the 45kWh Curvv EV has a C75 range of 330km-350km, but the extended range variant can go 400km-425 km on a single charge. Tata claims that the C75 range is more or less what range the SUV will achieve in the real world.

The 55kWh variant gets a 167PS/215Nm electric motor installed on the front axle. Tata claims that this enables the Curvv EV to reach a peak speed of 160 kph and accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 8.6 seconds. According to Tata, the battery can be charged to 150 kilometres in 15 minutes and from 10 to 80 percent in 40 minutes using a 70kW charger. The Tata Curvv EV is also Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V).

Tata Curvv EV: Rivals

The Tata Curvv EV competes with the Mahindra XUV400 (Rs 14.49 lakh - Rs 19.49 lakh), the newly launched base variant of the BYD Atto 3 (Rs 24.99 lakh), and the MG ZS EV (Rs 18.98 lakh - Rs 25.44 lakh).
