Tata Motors partners with EV CPOs to install 10,000 charging stations by 2025
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India's prominent charge point operators (CPOs), such as Charge Zone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon to set up 10,000 EV charging stations across India. This collaboration aims to further develop the nation's charging infrastructure, which will leverage the experience and reach of each CPO and utilise TPEM's comprehensive insights drawn from a fleet of over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on the Indian roads. Meanwhile, TPEM, with its longstanding partnership with Tata Power, has already installed over 4,900 public chargers in the country. Additionally, it aims to set up 7,000 more chargers in collaboration with BPCL in the coming year.
For this, Tata Motors will actively support the four CPOs to install chargers at locations frequently visited by the EV owners. This partnership not only will facilitate the expansion of charging points but also involve data sharing to gain valuable insights into charger usage patterns, enhancing the overall customer experience, says the brand.
The four CPOs âÂ" Charge Zone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon âÂ" currently operate a combined network of close to 2,000 charging points across major cities. Together, they will set up an additional 10,000 charging stations within the next 12-15 months.
Further, a key aspect of this collaboration includes exploring the possible introduction of a smart payment gateway via co-branded RFID cards. These cards, once operational, will streamline payment processes for Tata EV users across the charging network. Plus, customers will benefit from loyalty programs offered by these CPOs and a customer care service for assistance.
