Tata Nexon facelift India launch soon: What should you expect?
The highly-anticipated Tata Nexon facelift is all set to arrive in India on September 14, 2023. This mid-cycle update will bring a completely overhauled design, a fresh interior look, and additional features to one of the highest-selling sub-four-meter SUVs. It is also believed that the most sought-after electric car in the country, the Tata Nexon EV, will be launched in a refreshed avatar alongside its ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) sibling. Notably, the most recent spy photos have revealed the complete exterior design of the Nexon facelift, while the fresh interior without camouflage has already been spied a few times. Now, let's delve into what you should expect from Tata's one of the best-selling offerings.
The updated Nexon features a new design language in line with its future products, such as the Curvv concept. According to the latest spy pictures, the SUV boasts horizontal LED daytime running lights reminiscent of Audi cars, vertically stacked LED headlamps, a partly closed-off grille, and air curtains in the headlight housing. At the rear, the Nexon facelift comes with a full-length light stripe adjoining the taillamps. Meanwhile, the reverse lights appear to be located in the bumper, similar to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Additionally, Tata has given it a new set of alloy wheels. The SUV could also offer several new color options, including the blue shade seen on the production-spec model.
Upcoming Tata Nexon facelift: InteriorSpy shots suggest that Tata has overhauled the interior, introducing a new Curvv-inspired steering wheel, center console, dashboard, seats, and more. As seen in the leaked pictures, the cabin features a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a Range Rover-style gear selector, new switches on the centre console, a wireless charging pad, and USB Type-C fast charging ports.
Upcoming Tata Nexon facelift: PowertrainPowering the Nexon facelift is likely to be a new 1.2-litre inline three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 125PS and 225Nm of torque. This is a step up from the current petrol unit, which makes 120PS and 170Nm of torque. Importantly, Tata is expected to pair this engine with a new dual-clutch automatic transmission as well as a manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder turbo-diesel with a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission will continue to be available with the updated SUV.
Upcoming Tata Nexon facelift: Prices and Rivals
It is likely that the upcoming Nexon facelift will come with slightly higher prices compared to the current model, which is priced between Rs 7.80 lakh and Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). We believe that the refreshed Nexon will have prices starting at around Rs 8-8.50 lakh and reaching up to Rs 15-16 lakh. Once launched, the upcoming Tata Nexon facelift will compete against rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Kia Sonet.
