Tata Nexon reaches 1.5 lakh production mark
Tata Motors has now rolled out over 1.5 lakh units of the Tata Nexon from its Ranjangaon facility near Pune. This follows the sub-four-metre SUV crossing the 50,000 production mark in September 2018 and the 1 lakh production milestone in September 2019.
The Tata Nexon first launched in India in September 2017, following which an AMT version was added in April 2018. The facelifted Nexon then launched in January 2020. Along with the facelift, the fully electric Nexon EV was also added to the line-up.
The Nexon comes with two engine options. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder, turbo-charged diesel engine makes 110PS at 3,750rpm and 260 Nm at 1,500 to 2,750rpm in the Nexon. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol makes 110PS at 5,000rpm and 170 Nm at 1,750 to 4,000 rpm. There is the option of a six-speed manual or a six-speed AMT for both engines.
The Nexon EV's lithium-ion battery is of 30.2kWh capacity and feeds a permanent-magnet AC motor that puts 129PS and 245Nm through the front wheels. This allows for a brisk 0 to 100kmph time of 9.9s, the top speed is limited to 120kmph. The SUV will do over 312km on a full charge as per the ARAI.
Notable features available with the Nexon are IRA connect tech app, remote headlight, lock and horn control, live vehicle diagnostics, vehicle location tracking and geo-fence, valet mode, trip analytics and tribes, What3words address navigation, tyre pressure monitoring system, electric sunroof, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, Xpress cool. Notably, the Nexon is the first car to reach a five-star Global NCAP safety rating.
Prices fro the Tata Nexon start from Rs 6.99 lakh for the base XE petrol, going up to Rs 12.70 lakh for the top XZA+ (O). The Nexon EV starts from Rs 13.99 lakh
