Tata Power launches RFID enabled EZ Charge card for all EV owners
Tata Power has launched a new 'EZ Charge' charging system for electric vehicle users in India. The new EZ Charge is an RFID-enabled card that will make charging at any Tata Power charging outlet considerably easier, removing the need to launch a charging session via a mobile application. The RFID card may be used by any EV owners, regardless of brand.
Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, and Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, inaugurated the EZ Charge card at the Bombay House. With its Tap, Charge, and Go capabilities, the card provides unprecedented convenience. The RFID card includes a built-in chip that allows for the fast, secure, and smooth start of charging sessions as well as payment for them.
Users may start the charging process automatically based on their pre-set recharge value by just touching the EZ Charge RFID card on the Tata Power EZ charger. Once charged, EV owners may set out on their trips with comfort and confidence.
The EZ Charge Card provides additional benefits, particularly in places with poor mobile network coverage, guaranteeing that EV owners may charge and pay without difficulty. The RFID card may be linked to an EZ Charge account, allowing users to share access without disclosing important app data, maintaining privacy and security. The card simplifies the charging and payment processes, allowing for faster and more efficient transactions.
Tata Power's large EV charging infrastructure spans 350 cities, with a presence in 550 cities, and comprises over 40,000 residential chargers, 4000+ public and semi-public charging points, and 250 bus-charging points. The corporation intends to install 25,000 charging stations over the next five years, contributing to the expansion of the country's EV ecosystem.
To obtain the EZ Charge Card, customers can purchase it through the EZ Charge Self Care Portal for doorstep delivery or visit Tata Motors EV Dealerships.
