Tata Punch rival Hyundai Exter design sketch revealed ahead of launch
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMI) has officially previewed the first glimpse of the upcoming all-new Exter in the form of a design sketch. The exterior of the SUV features styling cues from the brand's signature design language - sensuous sportiness. Notably, its Tata Punch rival will serve as the entry point to the brand's SUV portfolio and will sit below Hyundai Venue.
Upcoming Hyundai Exter: Design
Designed around the Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy, the Hyundai Exter bears a youthful characteristic and takes inspiration from outdoor, travel, lifestyle, and urban, says Hyundai. It gets an upright and bold fascia and sharp cuts and creases on the bonnet and fender. However, the highlight of the exterior is the H-shaped LED daytime running lights that double up as indicators, projector headlamps located below the DRLs, and a wrapped-around grille. It also gets roof rails.
Upcoming Hyundai Exter: Interior
While Hyundai has revealed the exterior design sketches, it is yet to disclose the interior of the SUV. We expect it to offer a sizable touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a semi- or fully digital instrument cluster, a multifunctional steering wheel, ventilated front seats, front armrest with storage, cooled glovebox, USB fast-charging ports, rear air-con vents, and a wireless charging pad, among others.
Upcoming Hyundai Exter: Features
Hyundai is likely to bestow the Exter with numerous features, such as ESP, hill hold assist, downhill assist, engine start/stop switch, connected car technology, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, air purifier, cruise control, auto headlamps, powered ORVMs with auto-fold, puddle lamps, a rearview camera with parking sensors, and more.
Upcoming Hyundai Exter: Powertrain
It is believed that the Exter will benefit from two engine options: a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 83PS and 113.8Nm of torque and a 1.0-litre, inline-three cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 120PS and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a five-speed manual, AMT, and seven-speed DCT automatic. Hyundai could also offer it with an iMT gearbox.
