Tata Sierra EV spied in production-ready form

Mahindra is all set to launch their age of EVs later today but its biggest rival, Tata Motors isn't going to be holding back for too long. The Sierra EV which was confirmed a year ago has now been spotted in what appears to be its production-ready form. The Sierra name will be revived by Tata Motors and will spawn both EV and ICE powertrains with the former set to be launched first.

The Tata Sierra EV was first seen at the Auto Expo last year. The production-spec car looks pretty much in line with the concept. While the shape and design cues might look very much in line with the current Harrier and Safari, the Sierra EV looks much more butch in terms of its overall appearance.

The original Sierra from the 90s was a 3-door SUV, but in the case of the upcoming car, Tata has obviously opted for a more practical 5-door option. The boxy bonnet construction, connected LED DRLs and blanked-off grille looks are some of the key features of the SUV. In profile, while the wheels look big and designed with aero in mind, we expect the production car to get slightly different ones with the dual-tone finish we see here.

The talking point of the Sierra EV though has to be the glass panel on the C-Pillar. It will be two different glass panels but the hidden pillar makes it look like one continuous piece. The flush sitting door handle is also a neat touch.

The new Sierra EV will be a ground-up SUV and will be underpinned by Tata's Acti.EV architecture which is used in the Curvv EV as well. Rumour has it that the car will also have a dual motor setup which will enable AWD tech.

Tata will adopt the same strategy they used with the Curvv wherein the EV version of the car was launched before the ICE. Both cars will only be launched in the second half of 2025 though.
