Tata Tiago hatchback crosses 2 lakh sales in India
Tata Motors has achieved an important milestone with its hatchback offering, the Tiago. The company has crossed 2 lakh unit sales in India with the entire Tiago range, that includes the Wizz edition, the Tiago NRG and also the performance based Tiago JTP models. Launched in 2016, the Tata Tiago was the first car to come with the company's Impact design language that is seen on all new-age Tata Motors cars like the Hexa, Nexon and also the recently launched Harrier SUV.
"The Tata Tiago is a testimony to the strong connect we have established with our customers by offering best in class features at a great value proposition. The Tiago continues to be one of the few models in the hatchback segment that is still registering positive growth despite being in its third year of production. With 18 renowned accolades, the Tiago is the country's most awarded compact hatchback. I would like to express my gratitude to all the customers who have contributed to this milestone. We are confident that the Tiago will continue to win the hearts of customers across India and thrive as a successful offering in the hatchback segment." commented, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors.
Last year, Tata Motors launched the Tiago NRG based on the regular Tiago hatchback but with a crossover like styling at Rs 5.53 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai for the petrol and Rs 6.38 lakh ex showroom for the diesel model. This was then followed by the launch of the Tata Tiago JTP at Rs 6.39 lakh and a top-spec XZ+ variant at Rs 5.57 lakh, ex-showroom. Tata Motors has also released a music video titled Apni Hatchback which has a similar rap as in the movie Gully Boy.
In terms of powertrain options,  there is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder 85PS/114Nm petrol and a 1.05-litre three-cylinder 70PS/140Nm diesel engine on offer. A five-speed manual transmission is standard while a five-speed AMT too can be optioned. The diesel engine claims a lofty 27.28kmpl fuel efficiency and comes with a five-speed manual gearbox.
