Tata to increase the power output on Nexon EV
The Tata Nexon EV is now the most popular electric car (EV) in the current market. Tata recently also gave it the Dark edition makeover to keep it new, owing to its popularity. The all-electric small SUV will now be available in a more powerful variant from the Indian automaker.
The current Nexon EV currently puts out 131PS and 245 Nm of torque. According to a leaked transportation department circular, a Tata Nexon EV with 100kW (138PS) of power is in the works. Despite the increase in power, the battery size listed on the circular âÂ" 30.2kWh âÂ" is the same as the existing model. This might suggest that the ARAI-certified range of 312km on a single charge, as well as the 1-hour charge time to reach 80% on a DC fast charger, would remain unchanged.
The paper also disclosed that the Nexon EV's higher output version will be available in all three trim levels - XM, XZ+, and XZ+ LUX. Given that the Nexon EV is a relative affordable EV SUV on the market, we'll have to wait and see if this update is accompanied by a significant price rise.
Apart from the Nexon, Tata has previously unveiled the new Tigor EV, which will debut in our market on August 31, 2021. Unlike the old Tigor EV, the new one is designed for individual buyers and employs Tata's Ziptron high-voltage 300V+ architecture. Its electric engine will provide 76PS and 170 Nm of peak torque, with an 8-year/160,000-kilometer guarantee on the battery and motor.
