The Moving Motor Show sets the ball rolling at Goodwood
The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) is on this week. The three-day long festival is an annual gathering of motor enthusiasts as they get to rub shoulders with the crème de la crèmeàof the automotive world - and all this, while witnessing the fastest, most stunning vehicles on the move.
The Goodwood estate is now abuzz with a bevy of shutterbugs and motorheads. At the opening event, theÃÂ Moving Motor Show, visitors got to drive brand new offerings from some revered makes, along the historic route circling the estate. The route even includes the fabled ÃÂ 1.8km hillclimb course. This year, the vehicles featured range from ÃÂ supercars from bigwigs like Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche to lightweight sports cars from Ariel (the new Atom 3.5R). The Volvo S60 PolestarÃÂ and the much talked about BMW M4 make an appearance as well.
The theme this year celebrates the best and bravest of the motorsport world, with the titleà'Addicted to Winning âÂ" The Unbeatable Champions of Motor Sport'. From Le Mans winners to Formula 1 title holders and MotoGP champions, the festival will pay tribute to drivers, riders and the manufactures behind them. What's also terrific is that the Hyundai i20 WRC will make it to the Festival of Speed with Dani Sordo behind the wheel.
The hill-climb, the main attraction of the festival since it debuted in 1993, is slotted for the second day. Those who're lucky to catch the event will be treated to some high-octane action as the finest machines and racers speed to the finish line along scenic rolling country in West Sussex, England.
We'll keep you posted on the highlights of the long weekend at FoS.
