Third generation Honda Amaze teased ahead of global debut
With the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire just a few days away, Honda has decided to grab some of the headlines and has teased the first design sketch of the new generation Honda Amaze sedan. The brand is expected to open pre-booking for the car next month with the launch expected to be towards the end of December or early in January.
The current generation of the Amaze was launched in 2018 and since then Honda Cars India hasn't given the car any big updates. It will continue to compete in the sub-four-metre sedan space but will get a huge update on the outside at least from what we can see from the sketch.
The headlights feature angular edges and are significantly thinner than the outgoing car. The grille appears to be more in line with the new-age Accord that is available globally. Although it is hardly noticeable, the bumper appears to have gaping air dams on either side of the nameplate.
We expect a new set of alloy wheels as well as a full makeover at the rear of the car.
The cabin of the current gen Amaze feels very dated and begging for an update. We would hope Honda will bring a new cabin design with updated technology. A dual-tone cabin, bigger touchscreen, auto IRVM, cruise control and a wireless phone charger are just some of the updates we expect to see on the new Honda Amaze.
We expect Honda to continue utilising the 1.2-litre petrol engine, which generates 90PS and 110Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a CVT and a five-speed manual gearbox. The Amaze is currently priced at Rs 7.28 lakh (ex-showroom) so expect prices of the new car to be slightly higher than the current asking.
