Three new Mercedes-Benz cars coming to India by end 2016
Mercedes-Benz showcased the electric EQ concept at the recently held 2016 Paris Motor Show. The concept in its crossover form is a preview of upcoming EVs that the brand intends to bring into production in the future. We have also learnt that Mercedes-Benz India is gearing up to launch electric and plug-in hybrid models in India by 2018. The German car manufacturer is surely getting aggressive in both international and domestic front.
The company had announced plans of launching ten new dealerships this year in India, out of which six have already been launched. The remaining four, that are scheduled to happen in the next few months, will make a total of 90 dealerships based in more than 41 cities. Last month, Mercedes-Benz India inaugurated the country's largest warehouse facility at Chakan, Pune. Spread over an area 16,500 sq. mt. with a storage capacity of 44,000 parts, this is the largest facility for a luxury car maker in India.
To maintain the positive momentum, Mercedes-Benz India has planned three launches that are scheduled to happen by the end of this year. Here is a look at all of them:
Expected price: Rs 55 lakh âÂ" 60 lakh
The Mercedes-Benz SLC is a calmer and a more civilised version of the performance centric SLC 43 AMG. It is essentially the updated version of the SLK roadster incorporating the brand's new model nomenclature. The exterior design has been tweaked and so is the cabin. It now comes equipped with a larger 7-inch infotainment system. . The SLC 250d will share the 2.2-litre diesel motor from the C-Class with an output of 204PS/500Nm while the SLC 300 uses a 245PS/370Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine.
Mercedes-AMG C43Expected price: Rs 1.2 crore âÂ" 1.4 crore
Continuing the focus on the AMG versions, Mercedes AMG will launch the C43 coupe. This one gets a a 367PS/520Nm, 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes claims that the C 43 Coupe can do 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds, while it will hit an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. It comes equipped with a sportier suspension, larger wheels and more aggressive exterior styling trims.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class CabrioletExpected price: Rs 2.0 crore -Rs 2.5 crore
Similar to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Cabriolet gets a slew of equipment, both in terms of safety and luxury. Standard equipment in the S 500 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, AIRMATIC suspension, and heated and ventilated seats, among others. The three-layer soft-top can be raised and lowered at speeds of up to 60kmph in less than 20 seconds. The S 500 comes with a 455PS 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 and does 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds.
