Tigor EV expected to return over 300 km on a full charge from its 26 kWh battery pack
Tata Motors has started bookings for the Tigor EV at a few selected dealerships and customers can book their new EV at just Rs 21,000. Spy images have revealed that the Tigor EV will return more than 300 km on a single charge thanks to its Ziptron technology.
The Tigor EV is only Tata's second EV in the passenger vehicle segment, after the Nexon EV. The Nexon EV houses a 30.2 kWh battery pack and while the Tigor EV has a smaller battery pack at 26 kWh, it still manages to do over 300 km on a full charge.
This is due to the fact that the new Tigor EV is lighter than the Nexon EV. The Tigor won't require all that much punch as it is a lighter vehicle and can deliver the same 312 km the Nexon EV does from its bigger powerplant.
The image that went up on social media showed that a particular test Tigor EV could still do 204 km from 59 percent battery remaining. This directly translates to the vehicle doing 300 km from a fully charged battery.
The Tigor EV with Ziptron technology, just like the Nexon EV, should reach 80 percent capacity in 60 minutes using a DC fast charger. The Nexon EV can also be charged using any regular power outlet, which takes eight hours to charge from 20% to 80%. The Tigor EV should be able to match this charging time.
