Tokyo Motor Show 2019: 250cc four-cylinder Kawaski Ninja ZX-25R showcased

Kawasaki took the wraps off two motorcycles at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. First, the Z H2 which is an addition to its supercharged family. While the other one is the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R - displacing 249cc in a four-cylinder engine layout.

The motorcycle sits at the bottom end of the 'ZX' hierarchy, below the ZX-6R making it the smallest capacity track motorcycle from Kawasaki in their current portfolio. The ZX-25R borrows the styling cues from its elder sibling and gets a sharp nose flanked by split headlamp assembly. The bike is painted in Kawasaki's iconic lime green and gets red highlights on the belly panel - similar paint scheme that Kawasaki has recently adapted for their super sports - Ninja 400, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and the 2020 Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Given its intent to be the most accessible motorcycle for newbies on a racetrack, the Ninja ZX-25R hosts electronics to aid the budding riders. The safety net includes ABS (Antilock Braking System), Kawasaki's Traction Control system and different riding modes. The cycle parts include USD (Upside-down) forks with separate functions in the front with a radially mounted mono-block calliper. The rear end gets a horizontal back-link suspension.

Kawasaki has not unveiled any more details (power figures) about the new Ninja ZX-25R but if online reports are to be believed the ZX-25R could churn out close to 60PS. However, we anticipate Kawasaki is reserving that information for 2019 EICMA that will be held in the first week of November.

The motorcycle has carved a niche segment and it is difficult as well as unfair to pitch it against other 250cc motorcycles given the ZX-25R packs' equipment levels equivalent to motorcycles from segments above.
