Tokyo Motor Show 2019: India-bound 2020 Honda Jazz unveiled
At the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, Honda has made the global debut of the upcoming fourth-generation Honda Jazz, also called the Fit in many markets. The Jazz will go on sale internationally by February 2020 and come to India by the middle of next year. Further, the engines that debut on the hatchback are also a precursor to what we might get in the new City sedan next year.
The new Jazz's styling takes a step away from that of the last-gen car and is now a much more rounded affair. This is apparent in the new rounded headlamps and in the softer body-coloured grille extension. Further, the hatchback's practical attributes remain unchanged, given the substantial cab-forward look, and the large glass area, which is framed by a new cross-sectional structure for more rigidity. In profile, there seems to be some more sharpness, especially in the rising window-line and the rear quarter-glass.
The interiors take further steps forward in the Jazz' USP for simplicity and spaciousness. The flat dash top and the rounded sections are the key highlights here. This is seen in the flating centre-console, the new climate control panel and in the two-spoke retro-themed steering wheel. Another noticeable addition is a fully digital instrument cluster. The cabin continues to offer flexible seating options and specially padded seats. In keeping with a steadily rising global trend, the new Jazz can also be had in five different styling package with add unique exterior highlights and interior trims.
While no specific engine options have been announced yet, the new Jazz and the Accord that debuted alongside it now come equipped with Honda's eHEV two-motor hybrid system. The eHEV is a new nomenclature for all of Honda's electrification efforts in both the two and four-wheeler space. Alongside this, the Jazz will also be available with the Honda Connect suite of connected-car tech. Further, in international markets, the Honda Sensing assistance systems will also be available.
