Toyota Innova Hycross official image leaked ahead of November 25 debut
The Toyota Innova Hycross is set to make its debut in India on November 25. However, official images of the Indonesian-spec Innova Zenix have leaked showing what this MPV will look like.
Toyota Innova Hycross exterior styling, leaked imagesThese images show that the Toyota Innova Hycross is still recognizable as an Innova. A large full-face grille dominates the look while drawing a link with the current Innova Crysta and other global models like the RAV4 and Toyota Highlander. The headlamps are slimmer and more swept back now with LED units in the top variants. There is also a large housing for the foglamps, a wide DRL and a striking connected air dam that adds quite a bit of SUV character.
The bodywork of the Innova Hycross sees more creases than before along the sides and on the bonnet, although the functional boxy shape and large glass area continue in a more refined, again SUV-themed manner. The rear isn't visible but expect to see a flat boot lid with large two-part taillamps. The Innova Hycross should be marginally larger than the Crysta but should come with roomier interiors with the change in architecture. Previous 3D renders have shown that the Toyota MPV will get a panoramic sunroof.
Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid powertrain, specificationsThe big news with this generation change for the Innova is that it now moves to the TNGA architecture, moving from the earlier rear-drive, ladder frame chassis to a front-driven, monocoque layout. Another significant change is that the Toyota Innova Hycross will now get a hybrid powertrain. This powertrain is expected to be unrelated to the one seen in the Camry and could be the same as the hybrid system as seen in the Corolla Cross SUV and new Prius internationally.
This uses a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol motor that puts out 154PS and 190 Nm that pairs with a 113PS and 206 Nm electric motor with an e-CVT in the mix. The Innova Hycross will be a petrol-only offering for the first time now and lower-spec models could get a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 170PS and 202 Nm, again paired with a CVT.
Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid features, interiorsThe Toyota Innova Hycross should come with a longer list of features too with this generation change. Expect to see LED lighting, a larger touchscreen, digital instrumentation, 360-degree cameras, connected tech and maybe even some level of ADAS functions. The interiors have seen sweeping changes too. It is a more contempraray space with a flat horizontal design, a large free-standing touchscreen with a slim panel to AC controla and a dash-mounted gearlever. The instrument cluster is new too as is the steering wheel.
Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid expected prices, launch datePrices for the Toyota Innova Hycross should start from Rs 20 to 22 lakh. The Toyota Innova Hycross is expected to be unveiled by November-end with a launch expected by early 2023. The Innova Crysta is expected to continue to be sold alongside the Hycross possibly in its lower variants.
