Toyota to use flatbeds for direct-to-door car deliveries

To enhance the car buying experience through value-added services, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM) has announced a new programme, called "Awesome New Car Delivery Solution". The use of flatbed carriers to deliver car will provide benefits to customers, such as safe transportation with zero kilometer on odometer coupled with transit insurance. Customers will not have to pay any additional fees associated with this enhanced delivery service. This will be executed by the authorised dealerships of the carmaker as part of their sales process. It is said to be an industry first by offering vehicle logistic services up to the final delivery points without the traditional drive down by dealer staff.

As part of the initiative, dealerships have collaborated with logistics companies to implement this seamless delivery solution. The approach utilises flatbed single-car carriers, effectively mitigating risks associated with new vehicle transportation. To reinforce the protection of vehicles during transportation, transit insurance is provided through known insurance companies to offer an extra layer of coverage. In the initial phase of the programme, customers from 26 states across 130 dealerships will benefit from this car buying experience. More than just a car delivery program, the "Awesome New Car Delivery Solution" initiative is designed to create a unique experiences and deliver added value to customers through various solutions, says Toyota.

Offering movement of new cars from dealer stockyards to dealer showrooms through a carrier service, at no additional cost to the customers, will not only bring peace of mind but will also establish a uniform purchasing experience across all locations by effectively minimizing transit-related issues. We believe this initiative will particularly benefit customers in rural and semi-urban areas, where movement of vehicles large trucks, remains a challenge and new vehicles are often driven to the delivery location by road from dealer stock yard."
