Toyota unveil the Hilux GR Sport for Europe
Toyota has revealed the GR Sport version of its Hilux pickup truck for the European market, and the creation is largely inspired by Toyota's success at the Dakar Rally.
The Toyota Hilux GR Sport has a number of exterior and interior design upgrades, as well as a number of feature updates and other adjustments. A revised front bumper with bigger side air intakes that integrate the fog lamps, gloss black accents all around, and a body-coloured skid plate are among the changes. 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, plastic fender extenders, side steps, GR Sport emblems, and black mirror caps are standard on the GR Sport model.
Aside from the visual improvements, the GR Sport variant also receives a suspension adjustment. At the front, it comprises strengthened coil springs with monotube shock absorbers, while the rear retains the traditional leaf-spring configuration. These upgrades, according to Toyota, provide considerable improvements in handling qualities, such as steering effort and steering angle response, straight-line performance, a level ride, and comforting roll and rear grip feel, as compared to the regular Hilux.
The 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which generates 204PS and 500 Nm and is combined with a 6-speed automated gearbox and four-wheel-drive system, will continue to power the Toyota Hilux GR Sport in 2022. Paddle shifters and an automated limited-slip differential are also included in the top-tier model.
The Hilux GR Sport has black leather upholstery with synthetic suede and contrasts red stitching on the inside. Carbon-fibre accents are also found throughout the dashboard and central console, as well as aluminium pedals and blue lighting on the door panels, in the GR Sport trim.
Toyota has promised India the Hilux and is expected to launch the car later this month.
