Triumph reveals on-road price of Speed 400
Triumph Motorcycles has officially revealed the on-road prices of the new Speed 400 in India. Launched last week, the roadster was priced at Rs 2.23 (introductory, ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 customers. Since Triumph has already garnered over 10,000 bookings for the Speed 400, the motorcycle now costs Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the on-road price in Delhi is Rs 2,67,927, which includes Rs 18,640 for road tax, Rs 530 for registration, Rs 1,500 for handling charges, Rs 14,260 for insurance. It is to be noted that roadside assistance (RAS), insurance add-ons, and accessories are optional extras. That said, Bajaj Auto will produce the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X at its new plant, called Chakan 2, in Pune, Maharashtra.
While the Triumph's Speed 400 has received an overwhelming response, there was also a controversy break out after select Triumph dealerships quoted exorbitantly high on-road price, Rs 3.38 lakh to be specific, for the Speed 400. A tweeter user recently posted an on-road price break-up for the motorcycle, which included an intro kit worth Rs 8,500 and a whopping Rs 17,000 for delivery charges.
However, Bajaj Auto and Triumph India officially offered a clarification on the matter via their social media handle. The brands said, "At Bajaj Auto Ltd. we are committed to our customers and follow the highest standards of transparency, including pricing. We would urge all customers and media to ignore the rumours doing rounds across various public and social media platforms related to the on-road pricing of the new Speed 400. The company has not released any on-road price guidelines and the same would be in line with its other products and industry norms."
