TVS motorcycles and scooters now available in Myanmar
The TVS Motor Company has expanded its operations to Myanmar with the inauguration of a dealership in Mandalay. The dealership was inaugurated by the Myanmar Road Transport Minister, I. Kyaw San, and R. Ramakrishnan, Director, TVS Motors, earlier this month. Chief Minister of Mandalay, U. Ye Myint Daw Myat Ngwe, and other cabinet ministers were also present at the event.
After the end of the military regime, the environment in Myanmar has now become conducive for foreign investment. TVS is one of the first two-wheeler manufacturers to use this opportunity to grow its business activities.
The motorcycles being sold at the dealership include seven models from India and Indonesia. While the TVS Neo, TVS Rockz and TVS Tormax are imported from Indonesia, TVS Apache RTR 160, TVS Wego, TVS Scooty Pep+ and TVS Scooty Streak will be shipped from India.
TVS has provided extensive training to the dealership personnel in both assembly and service procedures. Reportedly, dispatch of the vehicles has already begun in Myanmar and there has been a good opening response. TVS has also presented the Mandalay police department with 10 Apache RTR160 patrolling motorcycles as a show of courtesy.
