TVS Scooty Zest to be launched in India on August 20

Out of the many, many products (mostly production ready) showcased by TVS at the Auto Expo 2014, only two have been launched so far. However, now the revised Scooty which was displayed there, will soon be seen in showrooms. TVS will launch the new Scooty Zest (yes, looks like TVS shares the name with Tata's latest offering) on August 20.

The Scooty was the preferred choice for the fairer sex as far as automatic scooters go. In fact, a clear indication of the popularity of  TVS' star two-wheeler is that the terms scooter and scooty have almost become interchangeable. However it was never given a proper update until the Streak arrived and by then Honda had already taken reigns of the scooter market with its Activa.

For the model year 2014, the new Scooty looks a tad similar to the Wego but in a smaller package. The front end has the familiar lamp with indicators placed on the apron. The meter is a white back-lit unit with an odometer and fuel gauge. The seat is also broader now and save for that mudguard on the front, every body panel looks new. There is also an upmarket grab rail and a new LED tail lamp unit. The silencer is borrowed from the new Wego and Jupiter.

The new TVS Scooty Zest also borrows its 110cc CVTi engine from the Jupiter/Wego duo. Expect it to make 8PS/8Nm and come mated to a CVT. TVS claims that the new Scooty will deliver a fuel efficiency of 62kmpl . We've already got the first ride of the  scooter marked on our planners for August 21. Stay tuned for more a detailed review and more.
