Ultraviolette F77: 300km in a single charge
Ultraviolette Automotive had recently showcased a stripped-down production-model F77 electric motorcycle at a show-and-tell event, at its production facility in Bengaluru. Here, the company announced that there will be battery options with the F77 when it finally launches later this year and also, the industry-leading IDC range of 300km on a single charge on the top-spec variant of the F77.
Since we last saw the bike in person, back in 2019, the Bengauru-based company appear to have really been at it with the bike, testing out multiple forms of upgrades, not only to the battery, but to the chassis, motor, motor housing and swingarm. Unlike the detachable battery pack we saw before, the updated F77 gets a new fixed aluminium cased unit that weighs around 50kg. The integrated battery architecture has switched from an 18,650 to a 21,700 format, resulting in significantly higher volume optimisation. This means that the 2022 F77 will have the highest capacity battery in the two-wheelers EV space in India.
In the presentation, Ultraviolette said that the F77 has been put through various rigorous test cycles, including extensive simulation, dyno and on-road testing, power cycling, and extreme off-road testing. There were videos of all of this too, so it all seemed legit. The F77's battery has also been put through accelerated ageing and thermal stress testing to endure durability as well.
Pre-bookings for the Ultraviolette F77 open on October 23, while the official launch will be on November 24.
