Upcoming car launches in January 2024
The forthcoming new year appears to offer excitement to car enthusiasts in India, with numerous attractive car releases planned for the first month of 2024. Unsurprisingly, this contains largely SUVs, as that is where the majority of the market is heading. Let's take a deeper look at the new car launches and unveilings scheduled for the first month of 2024.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift will be introduced in India on January 8, the first of several releases planned by the German luxury automotive maker in the following months.
In terms of visual upgrades, the GLS facelift will have numerous. These include a reworked front end with upgraded headlamp units and a revised bumper. The alloy wheels will also be modified in design. Among the significant interior modifications, Mercedes will include the newest MBUX user interface in the GLS facelift.
There are no mechanical updates under the hood of the vehicle. The GLS 450 4Matic will be powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, while the GLS 400d 4Matic will be powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine. The 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic AWD system will be standard on both GLS facelift models.
Kia Sonet facelift
The pricing of the Kia Sonet facelift model will be disclosed in January, with deliveries of this sub-4-metre SUV beginning in the middle of next month. Bookings for the new Sonet began in December, for a token amount of Rs 25,000.
The most significant addition to the feature list of the Sonet facelift is ADAS, comprising 10 various functions, such as Forward Collaision Warning, Forward Collaision Avoidance Assist (pedestrian, car and cyclists), Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.
Compared to the previous model, the updated sub-four meter SUV now comes with six airbags and 14 other safety features as standard. These standard safety features include ESC, VSM, HAC, ABS, brake-force assist, rear parking sensors, and TMPS, among others. There are no changes made to the car in terms of the powertrain.
Hyundai Creta facelift
The Hyundai Creta facelift is one of the year's most anticipated releases. The Creta will receive its first substantial upgrade since the new-generation model was introduced in 2020, and it will be announced alongside a pricing announcement on January 16.
New front and rear bumpers, a new grille, split headlights, new dual-tone alloy wheels, a completely digital colour instrument dashboard, an ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, and a dashcam will be among the changes to the 2024 Creta. The upgrade is also expected to have a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT transmissions.
