Upcoming car launches in September 2024
The Indian automotive industry is gearing up for a slew of car launches as the country's most celebrated festivals are upon us. Carmakers, such as Tata Motors, Hyundai, MG, and Mercedes-Benz, to name a few, have set the stage to introduce their new offerings in the market. So, let us dive deeper to find out what next month has in store for prospective buyers.
Tata CurvvAfter introducing the Cuvv EV, Tata Motors is readying the new Curvv for the launch on 2 September 2024. It will be powered by three engine options: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor generating 120PS and 170Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre diesel unit producing 118PS and 260Nm, and a new 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine that makes 125PS and 225Nm. All engines will be paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Key features of the Curvv include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, nine-speaker 320-watt sound system with a subwoofer, paddle shifters, ventilated seats, an electric parking brake with auto-hold, ambient lighting, flush door handles with illumination, welcome and goodbye light animations, powered boot opening with gesture control, an air purifier with AQI display, new iRA app support, telematics with SOS, 360-degree camera, wireless charging pad, 45W USB Type-C ports, hill hold control, hill descent control, ESP, six airbags, a cooled glove box, TPMS, front parking sensors, and Level 2 autonomy with 20 functions.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUVMercedes-Benz, India's most sought-after luxury carmaker, will introduce its new all-electric car, the Maybach EQS SUV in India. In international markets, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 gets two electric motors paired with a 107.8kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 600km. These motors deliver 658PS and 950Nm of peak torque. With this, the ultra-luxury Maybach can hit 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds and provides a top speed of 210kmph. It supports up to 22kW AC charging and up to 200kW DC fast charging, which can charge the Maybach EQS in 30 minutes.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift
Hyundai is all-set to launch the 2024 Alcazar facelift in the country on 9 September. Ahead of its launch, the carmaker revealed its interior pictures yesterday, on 26 August. While it features a fresh design reminiscent of the new Santa Fe, Creta, and Exter, the cabin, too, takes inspiration from the Creta. There is a dual-tone Noble Brown and Haze Navy Blue colour scheme, two 10.25-inch displays, new boss mode, ventilated front and rear seats, powered driver's seat with memory settings, one-touch foldable second row seat, dual-zone temperature control, USB Type-C and Type-A ports, panoramic sunroof, and more.
The 2024 Alcazar facelift will get a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 160PS and 253Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder diesel unit that delivers 116PS and 250Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
MG Windsor EVMG Motor India will launch third EV for the market after the Comet EV and ZS EV, called the Windsor EV. This will be launched on 11 September. It will be the re-badged Wuling Cloud EV. In other countries, the Wuling Cloud EV gets a 50.6kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 460km and a 37.9kWh unit with a range of 360km. A front axle-mounted electric motor delivers 136PS and 200Nm of torque when paired with the larger battery pack. The EV with a DC charger can charged from 30 to 100 percent in half an hour.
