Volkswagen launches the Polo GTI in India at Rs 25.99 lakh
Volkswagen India has launched the new Polo GTI in India at Rs 25.99 lakh (ex-Delhi). The car was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and as VW announced the car is imported into India via the CBU route. Volkswagen has allotted 99 units for the Indian market and customers can book the car on VW India's website.
Volkswagen has introduced the three-door version of the Polo GTI in order to distinguish it from the regular Polos that are on sale in the country. Other distinguishing bits include a new honeycomb mesh grille with a big GTI badge on it, double barrel LED headlamps, Dual chrome exhaust pipes and red stripes and accents around the car. The GTI also gets a wider track than a normal Polo.
The Polo GTI gets a 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops a mind blowing 192PS and 250Nm between 1,250rpm and 5,300 rpm. VW claims the Polo GTI can sprint from 0-100kmph in 7.2 seconds and go on to set a top speed of 233kmph. Those are seriously quick numbers for a small car. With those kind of figures, we are sure a lot of enthusiasts will be pretty excited.
Michael Mayer, director, Violkswagen Passenger Cars India said that the company is extremely proud to bring the GTI badge to the country. He adds that the Polo GTI is aimed squarely at enthusiasts who are well aware of the GTI badge's philosophy.
Volkswagen India will offer a unique test drive experience for a select bunch of petrol heads in the country. Details regarding the same are available on the company website.
