Volkswagen Taigun gets 2 new standard features as well a price hike of 2.5 to 4 percent
Volkswagen India has added two new features to the Volkswagen Taigun mid-size SUV. All variants now include an idle start/stop function and a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard equipment.
These amenities are now available on both Performance Line and Dynamic Line trims, but at a higher price, as Volkswagen has announced a 2.5 percent to 4 percent price increase for the Volkswagen Taigun and Volkswagen Tiguan, which will take effect on May 2, 2022.
Volkswagen believes the price rise was essential to partially offset higher input costs as a result of rising raw material prices and major disruptions in the automotive supply chain, including a semiconductor shortage. Several automakers, including Tata Motors, Toyota, Mahindra, Hyundai, Kia, Volvo and others, have already announced price increases for their respective vehicles, citing similar reasons.
On the 1.0L Dynamic Line, Volkswagen claims that the Engine Idle Start / Stop technology improves fuel efficiency by up to 6 percent. The manual variant is stated to have a fuel economy of 19.20 kmpl, while the automatic model is said to have a fuel efficiency of 17.23 kmpl.
The Volkswagen Taigun has also received some modest visual updates from Volkswagen. The Performance Line now only comes with Wild Cherry Red inserts when the exterior colour is Wild Cherry Red. Armur Grey glossy inserts are included with all other colour options.
Commenting on the announcement, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, "At Volkswagen, our priority is to offer our customers a comprehensive and value for money proposition. With these product enhancements on the made in the Volkswagen Taigun, it will offer our customers added comfort, improved fuel efficiency and a heightened drive experience."
