Volkswagen Taigun to launch in India on September 23
After the start of production last week and bookings opening, the Volkswagen Taigun is set to launch in India on September 23. The Volkswagen Taigun is the second offering to come from Skoda-Volkswagen's India 2.0 strategy and is based on the MQB-A0-IN architecture it shares with the Skoda Kushaq.
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 110PS and 175 Nm, are to be offered in the low to mid-spec versions of this new Volkswagen SUV. With a six-speed manual, the six-speed torque converter from the Vento will also be available. Also, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that makes 150PS/250 Nm and pairs with a seven-speed DSG will be offered on higher trims. The larger engine will get a six-speed manual as well in an entry GT variant. The top GT version will be offered in the 1.5 turbo and DSG combination.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun features
Notable features on the inside of the Volkswagen Taigun should be Type-C USB charging, connected-car features, a single-pane sunroof, climate control, ventilated front seats, up to 17-inch alloy wheels and large amounts of interior storage. The Taigun, along with the Kushaq, will be one of the first mainstream cars to offer ESC as standard. Other than this, there are six airbags, TPMS, hill-hold function, rear parking camera, front parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts. 2021 Volkswagen Taigun expected price, rivalsPrices of the Volkswagen Taigun should mirror that of the Kushaq and range between Rs 11 to 18 lakh. The new Volkswagen Taigun will compete against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 and MG Astor are other competitors.
