Volkswagen to recall more than 11 million vehicles worldwide

In a recent development to the Volkswagen diesel gate scandal, newly appointed CEO Matthias Mueller said that more than 11 million VW cars will be recalled. In a closed door meeting with senior management executives from Volkswagen, Mueller said that there is a comprehensive refit plan in progress and all the affected diesel cars will have to be brought in for fixing the manipulated software.

An Oct 7, 2015 deadline has been set by Volkswagen AG's KBA regulator in Germany to fix these issues. In what can be called as the company's biggest crisis in its business dealings in 78 years, the diesel emissions cheating issue has taken the entire automotive industry by storm. This recall will affect 2.1 million Audi cars, five million VW cars, 1.2 million from Skoda and 1.8 million LCVs. Mueller says that the company will be contacting customers soon to let them know of the plan.

Mueller has also been quoted as saying that the company is looking to perform individually, in the future, like its premium brands like Porsche and Audi. However currently they are facing an issue with lower profit margins and higher fixed costs. Not to mention all the bad name the company has accumulated with this scandal.
