Volvo C40 Recharge India debut on 14 June; What should you expect?
Volvo India has set the stage to introduce the electric C40 Recharge in India on 14 June, 2023. Internationally, it is available in a choice of two drivetrain options RWD and AWD across two battery pack choices. Based on the XC40 Recharge, the coupe SUV made its global debut in 2021. Like the XC40 Recharge, Volvo could assemble the upcoming C40 Recharge at its Hoskote facility near Bangalore, Karnataka. When launched at Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the 150 units allotted to the market of the locally assembled XC40 Recharge EV were sold out within two hours of its launch.
While the Volvo XC40 Recharge prices start from Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the C40 Recharge is likely to command a higher premium of around up to two lakh.
2023 Volvo C40 Recharge: DesignAlthough the C40 Recharge appears identical to the XC40 Recharge in terms of design, the coupe-style sloping roofline sets them apart. It continues to get the signature Thor's Hammer style daytime driving lights, closed-off grille, and distinctive vertical taillamps. Further, the C40 Recharge measures 4,440mm in length, 1,910mm in width, and 1,591mm height, with a wheelbase of 2,702mm. Meanwhile, the SUV coupe also comes with new 19-inch aero wheels.
2023 Volvo C40 Recharge: Interior
The interior of the C40 Recharge boasts genuine leather-free vegan upholstery and recycled carpets. In addition, the typical Volvo cabin bears a tablet-style, vertical, and Google-powered nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-inch fully digital driver display, two-zone climate control, a 13-speaker, 600-watt, Harman Kardon sound system, and an air purifier.
2023 Volvo C40 Recharge: Range, Battery, And Power OutputsVolvo recently brought back rear-wheel drive the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge in its range after 25 years. The entry-level C40 Recharge RWD trim gets a 69kWh battery paired with an electric motor that makes 238PS. It has an improved WLTP range of up to 476km. Using a 130kW DC charger, it can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 34 minutes.
There is a more potent and extended range version of the RWD variant that comes with a larger 82kWh battery pack. Linked to a 252PS electric motor, this variant offers a WLTP range of up to 533km. It also features upgraded 200kW charging structure from the previous 150kW. Thus, charging it from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 28 minutes.
The updated C40 Recharge AWD trim now delivers 249PS motor on the rear axle and 159PS motor on the front axle. Both are mated to an 82kWh battery. With an enhanced battery cooling system, the C40 Recharge has a range of 507km, as per WLTP.
2023 Volvo C40 Recharge: Features
Being a Volvo, the C40 Recharge is equipped with a bunch of safety features, such as ADAS, front, curtain, side, and driver knee airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, and more. It also comes with a 360deg camera, hands-free powered tailgate, a wireless charging pad, TPMS, and hill start assist, among others.
