2012 Los Angeles Show – 2014 Jaguar XFR-S
Jaguar has unleashed, in its own words "the most powerful sedan made by JLR", the XFR-S at the 2012 Los Angeles Show. The latest addition to the R-S line of performance cars will have a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine which makes 550PS of power and 680Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed ZF transmission which allows the car to zoom from 0-100kmph in just 4.4 seconds. Jaguar claims that the new XFR-S is fitted with stop/start system which helps it get the same fuel efficiency as the XFR.
Twenty inch 6-spoke alloys wheels, an upgraded suspension and near-straight exhaust tips are bits which are carried over from the XKR-S. Jaguar also claims to have increased the lateral stiffness by 30 per cent and recalibrated the electronics to handle the extra power. Dynamic mode enables the throttle response to be crisper than in Standard mode.
The new XFR-S has a deeper front bumper than the XKR with bigger side intakes and a carbon fibre splitter. There is an aero blade which sits behind the front tyres and channeling more air into the rear bumper are sharp side sills. Reducing lift by 68 per cent are the decklid spoilers. Inside the cabin, for 2014 model year, Jaguar has added contrasting stitching for the leather seats and a new 18-speaker 825 watt Meridian music system.
Prices for the XFR-S start from Rs 55.03 lakh when the car goes on sale in the US by April-May 2013.
