Kawasaki Europe has launched an array of 2014 models comprising its entire range of bikes. Of these the latest one is the Ninja 300 SE where SE stands for Special Edition. The Ninja 300 replaced the earlier 250 globally. The Ninja 300 SE was unveiled at an event by Yasushi Kawakami, MD of Kawasaki Europe.

The SE now gets the quintessential 'elliptical' designing of Kawasaki. It also comes with a stouter, rigid body, a longer windscreen and 17" multi-spoke alloys. Two paintjob combinations are available, namely Lime Green/Ebony and Pearl Stardust White/Ebony.

The mechanicals also have been upgraded. It is powered by a re-tuned four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel twin 296cc engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. Kawasaki though haven't mentioned the power and torque figures or even if there are any changes at all. The fuel injection assembly has now gone the digital way which Kawasaki claims will improve cold starts, throttle response and fuel economy. A new slipper clutch assembly with assist is also now available. The suspensions get slight tuning to adjust to the frame's rigidity.

Electronics include a large analog tachometer, a digital multifunction display with speedometer, odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, and digital clock functions, indicator lights and an economical riding indicator.

The SE comes in both ABS and non-ABS options. Kawasaki riders have run rigorous tests on the Ninja 300 SE at the Autopolis race circuit to verify components, tuning and feedback. Prices for the 2014 Ninja 300 SE haven't been announced yet but expect a premium over the 2013 model. Kawasaki might just bring in this bike to India late next year considering that the 2013 edition was launched here a couple of months back.
