2020 Mahindra Thar receives over 9,000 bookings within six days of launch

Mahindra's latest launch, the new-gen Thar has already started showing its popularity by garnering more than 9,000 bookings within six days of it being launched in the country. This has made the Thar the only 4x4 SUV to have achieved such a milestone in such a short span of time. The Mahindra Thar was launched on October 2, 2020 at a starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh for the base AX variant, a six-seater soft top offering. While the most expensive variant in the line-up is available at Rs 13.75 lakh, both prices ex-showroom. Here's our detailed review of the 2020 Mahindra Thar.

The 2020 Mahindra Thar can be specced by either a diesel engine or a 2.0-litre Stallion turbo-petrol that makes 150PS of power and generates 320Nm of torque. The diesel, on the other hand, is the same unit that does duty on the Scorpio SUV. This unit makes 300Nm of torque while putting out 130PS of power. While a six-speed manual transmission is offered as standard, the new-gen Thar can be had with a six-speed automatic transmission. Catering to different kinds of audience, the Thar is available in a more purpose-built AX trim with steel wheels, which look retro-cool as well as the more luxury inclined LX variant with alloys and more.
