2021 Renault Kiger: Prices and variants explained

Renault India has launched its first sub-four-metre SUV with the Renault Kiger. The Kiger sits in the lower half of the compact SUV segment and most closely competes with the Nissan Magnite, which it is also related to mechanically. Bookings for the Renault Kiger have begun for a Rs 11,000 deposit across Renault dealerships and online.

Based on the Renault Nissan CMF-A+ architecture, the Kiger is 3,991mm long, 1,750mm wide, 1,605mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,500mm. Ground clearance is 205mm while boot-space is a useful 405 litres.

A familiar set of engines and gearboxes power the Kiger. The base engine option is the B4D naturally aspirated 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol that puts out 72PS at 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm at 3,500 rpm, pairing with a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. The other engine option is the HRA0 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol. This motor makes 100PS at 5,000 rpm and 160 Nm at 2,800-3,600 rpm when paired with a five-speed manual. The torque output drops to 152 Nm at 2,200-4,400 rpm when paired with the X-Tronix CVT.

The Kiger can be had in four variants, with a varying mix of engine and gearbox options. Here's how much you pay for each of them and the features they offer. All prices are ex-showroom and introductory. The N/A petrol can be had on all variants, and can be paired with the AMT from the RXL variant onwards. The Turbo manual can also be had from the RXL onwards but can be paired with the CVT only in the top two variants, RXT and RXZ. There are six colour options with a dual-tone black roof available on certain paint options as per the trim chosen.
