2022 BMW 3 Series facelift leaked in spy image
The mid-life update for the current G20 BMW 3 Series has been reveled in a spy photo online. This generation of the BMW sedan has been around since 2018 globally and a life-cycle update should be in the works by now, which makes this leak seems a reasonably legitimate one.
2022 BMW 3 Series facelift exterior changes
The leaked image shows that the facelifted BMW 3 Series now features a fairly deep rework of its front end. The full-face grille from the 4 Series hasn't been carried over here, with the 3 Series continuing with a more traditional BMW grille as the exposed radiator points towards. A big change new style LED headlamp cluster with the inverted DRLs and sweptback shape more reminiscent of the 4 Series. The model seen here seems to be the M340i variant with the deep creases in the bummer and the large, contrasting air dam below the grille. Also, note the M3 style cut-out wing mirrors. The rear isn't visible but expect new bumpers and a different taillamp arrangement.
2022 BMW 3 Series facelift interior changes
The interiors haven't been seen yet but the big change here should be the new 12.3-inch screen Drive touchscreen with Google Maps integration and possibly some elements from the more simplified centre console from something like the iX. More standard features can be expected as well as an improved set of driver assistance systems.

2022 BMW 3 Series facelift engines
The engine options should remain largely unchanged for India, with international models probably adding a higher degree of electrification. So expect the 2.0-litre diesel with 190PS and 400 Nm and the 2.0-litre petrol with 252Ps and 400 Nm to continue. The M340i seen here should return with the same 3.0-litre straight six but possibly with some more handling aids and even a power bump from the current 387PS and 500 Nm.
2022 BMW 3 Series facelift India launch date, prices
The BMW 3 Series facelift should launch globally by sometime in 2022 with an Indian launch expected soon after in late 2022 with a 5 to 10 per cent increase in prices. The revised 3 Series will compete most closely with the new-gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class set to launch before that as well as the Audi A4 and Volvo S60.
