2022 Hyundai Venue facelift garners over 21,000 bookings, 1.2-litre petrol most popular

The Hyundai Venue facelift seems to have continued the sales success of its predecessor. The refreshed compact SUV has already racked up over 21,000 bookings since order books opened on June 3. The Venue is one of Hyundai's most popular models and has accounted for 22 per cent of its volumes in 2022.

Hyundai Venue facelift: N/A petrol and diesel most popular

The 1.2-litre petrol is the most popular engine option with the 2022 Hyundai Venue with this engine choice now being available across more variants. This option accounts for 45 per cent of the new bookings with the diesel following second with a 35 per cent share of orders. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol accounts for 20 per cent of the bookings.

Alongside the launch of the facelifted Hyundai Venue, the company has also brought to light some interesting details its buyers and the car industry. The SUV segment is now the dominant one in India, accounting for 41 per cent of all cars sold in the country and growing rapidly from the 16 per cent share it had in 2016. In this, the compact SUV sub-segment is the largest at 22 per cent, growing from 8 per cent in 2017.

The customer is now buying higher-priced vehicles. Cars costing over Rs 10 lacs now account for 37 per cent of the car market, up from 16 per cent. Hyundai has turned into a fairly high-priced brand, with its share of sales of cars over Rs 10 lakh growing from 20 per cent in 2018 to 41 per cent in 2022. Buyers also seem to be showing a greater preference for high-end features. Over 34 per cent of all Hyundai cars sold now come with a sunroof, 22 per cent have connected-car tech and 20 per cent have an automatic gearbox. This is up from 18, 5 and 14 per cent in 2019.

Hyundai Venue facelift prices, specifications, features

Prices for the 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift start from Rs 7.53 lakh for the 1.2 petrol and Rs 9.99 lakh for the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.

The base motor in the Hyundai Venue facelift is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol that puts out 83PS and 114 Nm and is paired with a five-speed manual. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol makes 120PS and 172 Nm and can be had with a six-speed iMT and a seven-speed DCT. There is also a diesel option that makes 100PS and 240 Nm from a 1.5-litre motor and pairs with a six-speed manual.

With the new Venue you now get a segmented digital instrument cluster and the 4-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters from the Creta. While the 8-inch touchscreen remains the same with wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay you now get even more connected features like Alexa and Google Assitant compatibility as well as regional language support.

Other new additions are ambient lighting, a powered driver's seat, ambient sounds, auto headlamps/wipers and six airbags. You also get drive modes now and a big change to the rear seat is the new two-step rear seat recline while legroom too has increased with a scooped-out front seatback.
